FACTORY REPAINT OF A 953!
Hey--American Flyer was recycling before it was cool!
You are looking at a fantastic addition to your American Flyer collection.
This is something your buddies probably do not have.
This is an American Flyer 952 Heavyweight Maroon "Pikes Peak" Pullman Coach from 1953-58. THIS CAR, however, is a factory do-over. For this car, Flyer used a FACTORY ACCIDENT. Apparently, someone ran a 953 Niagra Falls  stamping on a COACH (you had ONE job!). As you know, the Niagra Falls car is a combination car! So, Flyer REUSED this car and put it right by painting over the old stamping and stamping it for Pikes Peak. The original lettering visible under the paint includes:
the American Flyer Lines on the top over the windows
the "Niagra Falls" name
the 953 numbering
You really have to look hard, and bright lights (or a camera flash) help older eyes, but it is there, and it is interesting!!! Note that we used various lighting for you to be able to see it, so the maroon paint may appear different shades in the close ups, but it IS maroon, and it is uniform. Be sure to ENLARGE the pics.

CONDITION:
C-6+ VG+ towards excellent! There are a few rubs and scratches  on the roof. The car has been run and handled, but still looks great. The printing is crisp and nice except for the number on one side which has the third number rubbed. Very small hairline scratch or crack in one end doorway.  Silhouette strip has a few rubs here and there, but is overall nice. Minute scratches here and there. Pictures show it all.
You really should grab it while you see it. Factory oddities are always super hard to find.
